Lettuce is the largest market for seeds, and the Iceberg lettuce is a must-have. Present in all production zones, it is the top seller for ready-to-eat packaged lettuce. The name of Vilmorin's proprietary Iceberg goes by the name of Antartica. It is a Salinas-type lettuce with a voluminous head and strong resistance to Bremia. It is distinguished by its slow growing rhythm, meaning that growers can harvest over longer periods. It has been tested through a network of trials set up throughout Europe and the Americas, but also in Australia and South Africa. Its first sales in the United Kingdom and Brazil are promising.
