This autumn the Saint Verny Winery took the risk of waiting for its crops to reach a uniform level of maturity before harvesting. Its 180 ha of vineyards were harvested in only 13 days. 2010 looks like a very good year. The white Chardonnays will have very intense floral aromas and be characterized, above all, by their crisp freshness. For the rosés, this year will offer truly magnificent wines, illustrating the real strides in quality made by Auvergne rosés. The reds will be exceptional due to the advanced maturity of the grapes harvested. Longer maturing periods have allowed for a better extraction of colors and aromas. 2010 will be a much anticipated year for Pinot Noir with a richness and elegance rarely seen in Auvergne wines. The Gamays, on the other hand, will be fruity like the 2009 vintage. We can wager that the qualities of this vintage and the French AOC label awarded to Auvergne wines will allow the Saint Verny Winery to win over new wine enthusiasts. The French wine guide, Guide Hachette 2011, has already recognized its know-how by distinguishing several wines.
