Optimal organization
The Group's parent company, the Coopérative Limagrain holds direct stakes in the companies that form the Agro-Productions Business Group. Through Groupe Limagrain Holding, a 100% controlled subsidiary, the Coopérative steers, runs and controls the operating business groups. This organization of holdings for each business sector provides more flexibility and means that the stock can be opened up to agricultural or industrial partners, and to financial investors, each time that this fits in with strategy, Indeed, in the context of a world seeds market that has been marked by concentration over the past two years, Limagrain has chosen to bring field seeds and vegetable seeds together in the same economic unit, Vilmorin & Cie. This operation, materialized on July 3rd 2006, is the end result of a strategy followed since 1975, the year when Vilmorin SA, a company with a heritage of two centuries of botanical know-how in vegetable seeds and garden products, was acquired. It is also justified by the growing complementarity of these two divisions which use the same tools and strategies to improve plants. And finally, it is an extension of the strategic choice made in 1993 to introduce Vilmorin & Cie onto the Paris stock exchange. More than ten years' experience on the stock market have shown that the vision and governance of a cooperative Groupe such as Limagrain have been able to reassure the markets and meet their expectations in terms of performance and development. In a period where investors attach more and more importance to the values passed on by companies, Vilmorin & Cie offers a real opportunity, that of accompanying the development of a Group with the ambition of contributing to the creation of tomorrow's seeds, combining fine economic, social and territorial performances. |
