The desire to open out onto the world As the largest seeds company in the European Union and the fourth largest in the world, through its international development Limagrain finds new opportunities for valorization, with the creation of synergies and a better spread of risks, but its involvement goes even further. Its contact with new territories and new cultures means the group is richer; it can participate in the development of new cultures, and provide its contribution to meet the immense challenges facing. In 2050, in order to meet the food and non-food requirements of around 9 billion inhabitants, world agricultural production will have to be multiplied by two. The seeds of tomorrow will need to be customized to each territory. Only if one has a research capacity integrated into an international dimension can one meet these challenges. The Group's specific research approach means it can diversify its available genetic resources by opening accessible genetic resources up to all the community of researchers. It also means that new growing techniques can be tested so that products are adapted to the different markets. For seeds production, the Group's presence in the two hemispheres provides essential security to compensate for the vicissitudes of the weather. Finally, with regard to marketing and sales, the Group's international stature provides richer creativity, and means that there is wider payback on the originality and quality of its products and opens up new opportunities for development. |
